From the Heart Words

I'm Charlie's mum and I'm a writer

These are the words I wish someone had written for me.

When our Charlie received an autism diagnosis at the age of three, it was a big moment. And the early days, weeks and months were hard. When you love a neurodivergent child there is a lot to do – feeling, learning, understanding, accepting, advocating. It’s a lot.

Charlie’s story is not mine to tell. He tells his own story of walking the autism road through his art and his advocacy.

Lately, as Charlie has become an adult, I have been thinking about those early days. And then I began to write about them.

From the Heart Words is that writing.

These are the words I wish someone had written for me. Back then.

They are words, written and curated, to share. From my heart to yours.

My wish for these words is that they find their way into the hearts and minds of others walking the autism road. Maybe that’s you, or someone you know.
