I'm Charlie, I'm an award winning autistic artist and entrepreneur
"I am an autistic artist from Melbourne. Being autistic means that my brain works a bit differently. I started having art lessons when I was 9 years old."
Charlie grew to love art from his first art class at the age of 9. He has grown into a capable and enthusiastic artist with a distinctive eye for detail and colour and would love to be a famous autistic artist.
Established in 2019 as a microenterprise, Charlie by Art celebrated Charlie’s art, creativity and individual endeavour. In 2025, when Charlie turned 18, Charlie by Art became 'Charlie Jackman' – Proud. Autistic. Artist.
Charlie has had art pieces commissioned by former Premier of Victoria, Daniel Andrews and former Federal Minister for the NDIS, Bill Shorten. He has been acknowledged with a range of awards, including the Victorian Young Achiever Award People's Choice, a Macedon Ranges Youth Award, an Edstart Achievement Award in Visual and Performing Arts and a Community Bank Gisborne & District Early Tertiary Scholarship. Charlie is also a regular stallholder at markets in the north and west of Melbourne and regional Victoria.
'Charlie Jackman' sells beautiful greeting cards, prints and other special things. Charlie’s micro-enterprise celebrates art and creativity while supporting Charlie to learn important life and entrepreneurial skills.

the kindness & courage collection
In October 2025, I lost my Pa. He was 87. I miss him every day.
Pa loved words and art. I wanted to create something that was a tribute to him. So Mum and I have created a new collection of greeting cards. It’s called the Kindness & Courage collection.
Pa used to say these special words to my Mum: “Life is mostly froth and bubble.Two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s troubles. Courage in your own.”
So, welcome to the kindness & courage collection. A collection of 12 cards with beautiful words for all kinds of occasions. I hope you love them and that they bring you kindness and courage.

Art Design for the Premier of Victoria
In 2019, the former Premier of Victoria, Dan Andrews, asked me to create an artwork for his Christmas card. This is what I drew.
The Premier asked if I could include some construction in the artwork so I added cranes, trains and a tunnel boring machine. I really love how beautiful Melbourne is when there is a sunset. Underneath the city is a rainbow serpent to help protect Melbourne.
It was a great honour to produce this work for Dan.

I love the Aussie reference: the kangaroo with its gentle face and the coloured lights round its neck referencing Christmas and finishing the picture.
Daphne was my grandmothers favourite flower, and my mothers too, and mine! I think Charlie has done a remarkable depiction of the beauty of Daphne here on this card, it really spoke to me, and looking forward to gifting the card to friends and family.
